Host Shows As Down But Services Are Showing As OK

One of our nrpe client machines is appearing as down in the Tactical Overview
and associated screens. However, if I go to the Service Detail screen, the 
services that are being monitored on the system in question are showing up as OK
with very recent time stamps. Has anyone have a similar situation, and
if so what was the cause and solution? Thanks.
