Nagios Status Critical

Hi,

I've a little question regarding the transition to status critical. Is
is possible to configure nagios so that the web gui only goes to
critical state for a particular service check whenever that service
enters a hard state? If so, how? I've checked the documentation, faqs
and mailing list and have found nothing about this.
