First of all thanks for answering my question. I appreciate you taking the time to help me understand somethings. I have a follow-up question. Following are all the apache processes that are running. And as you can see apache is running as user nobody.

Here are the permissions on the "/usr/local/nagios" folder:

And these are the permissions on the folders that are inside the nagios folder:

So my question is, are these permissions set correctly. I have not edited any permissions and this is the way how it looks when I have completed the installation of the core nagios program....................before I install the plugins.
 
Any help would be appreciated.
