Service Dependency Templates

Are you saying that the host_check command automatically has all other
services dependant on it no matter what? If not, then you are saying I need
to put host_check commands in my host.conf? I'm trying to keep my setup so
that all services are set in the services config, so I don't have the
default host_check command in my host.conf. Also a sniffer won't tell me how
nagios is coded, so running one will do me no good what so ever.

It sounds like you have everything set up properly.  Nagios does this by
default.  It's already doing it.  Really.  Use a packet sniffer.
Watch.  Learn.
