Many daemons running

Hi all, 

I'm running Nagios 1.0 with RedHat 8.0, All I have configured seem
right, but now I have many services and hosts being monitored with nrpe
and nsclient.
 
 
The problem is that I have many nagios daemons running and those make a
significant CPU and memory utilization.

/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
 7954 ?        S      0:00 /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d
/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

 7962 ?        S      0:00 /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d
/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
 7964 ?        S      0:00 /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d
/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
 7970 ?        S      0:00 /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d
/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

I read about this at nagios.org and it seems to be normal because of the
design. Somebody have solve this problem before?
