nsca issues

I have a central server running on Redhat 9, nagios 1.2, nrpe 2.0 and nsca 2.4
Distributed server runs the same versions as the central server but is running on freebsd 5.0.

i am able to run my sumbit_check_result and actually run the send_nsca command itself but on the central servers syslogs i get
Handling the connection....
End of Connection.....

and all host and services checks are constantly pending.

Please help ={
