notification storm

I recently set up a dedicated nagios server on a network "A" to montior
a rack of servers on network "B". Unfortunately, network "A" is a
little flaky and goes offline periodically for 10-15 minutes at a time.
After one of these events i get a flood of problem notifications,
followed by a flood of recovery notifications.

I suspect there is a reasonably straightforward way to tell nagios not
to generate notifications if its own network is down but my google-fu
wasn't strong enough to find it (is there a particular terminology for
the situation I've described?) If anyone can point me in the right
direction I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks - Jason
