multiple notifications

I was just wondering whether someone else has come accross this same problem. I 

monitor a remote host using the check_ping plugin and nothing else. I am not 

monitoring any other service on this particular host. During tests, I am 

getting five notifications (three e-mails - three minutes apart and two pages 

on my pager) when this particular host comes up from being down. Does anyone 

know whether I can configure it so that I will only be paged or e-mailed once? 

If someone can point me int the right direction that will be great. Any help 

would be appreciated.
