Probably not. The old code is structured in a very round-robin way (an 
fping legacy) which makes it a bit hard to maintain and add random 
"plugin-ish" features to.

Those new features I'd like to add are f.e. support for pinging using 
various other protocols (udp and tcp to begin with - tcp pings would 
require packet socket handling on OSI layer 2) and the possibility of 
running it in check_host mode and be ultra-fast.
