Check stale

Hi !

I am running a Nagios 1.2, with 130 hosts and 340 services monitored.

Every day there are (at least) 1000 "stale messages" in the nagios.log file.
I fear that this affects the performance in fact , often , arrive errors
from many checks (expecially from check_ping) wrongly.

Any idea? Which parameters may I change ?
