Variable threshold

Hello.

I've read (most of) the archive and I couldn't find an answer to my problem: 
is there a way to set a variable threshold for Critical state? I mean that if 
the ping is 50 during the day when there is heavy traffic it's ok, and i 
don't want to receive an alert, but if that happens during the night I need 
an alert.
