Notifications failing over time?

I've got an interesting problem with nagios.

Notifications worked for about a week, then stopped working.
This seems to go both for host and service notifications..

The only thing that I know of which changed, was the nagios
data was restarted once or twice. 

I'm wondering if this is something with retention or aggregation?
