Check_Ping Problem for multiple addresses for a host

I have a server who has multiple IP-Addresses
in the Nagios FAQ is described, that you only have to seperate them in the
host.cfg by putting a << , >> komma between those two Ip addresses!
but that doesn't work anyway!
if I try to view the host details, the server wich is specified to two
addresses is down but if you ping it manually its up!
and thats a very big problem for us, because we have some servers with
multiple ip addresses specified

check_ping: Invalid host name/address - 10.1.1.X,10.1.1.X

my host.cfg:

define host {
		use		Server

		host_name	XXX
		alias			XXX-Server
		address		10.1.1.X,10.1.1.X
		}

and now if i only specify one address the server always seems to be up

my current nagios version is 1.1
operating system: debian sarge (testing version)

please can anybody help me?

tal

sincerly
