Multiple Servers on the internet -- possible?

Hi all

I want to be able to use Nagios to monitor 3-4 servers (running RedHat
Linux).  What kind of access do I require on each box if they are all
internet server (not on the same local network).   Are there any security
issues that I need to keep in mind before setting this up?

Any input appreciated in advance!
