Check_disk problems

I seem to recall this problem having been discussed in length some time
back, but have not been able to pick up the thread. So here goes.

Check_disk of many of my systems, returns a message "Unable to return
output"

No looking at the df -Pk, I get the follwoing, which I beleive is the issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
# df -Pk
Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on
galaxy:/vol/vol0 50119928 237784 49882144 1% /galaxy
galaxy-e10:/vol/uta03/archivelog
                      372766952 237134016 135632936 64% /archivelog
galaxy-e10:/vol/uta03/backup
                      372766952 237134016 135632936 64% /export/uta
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------

The above entries are not inline and check_disk gets lost.
Does anyone have a work around. It is typical that the most critical machine
cannot be monitor due to this problem.
