As I noted, 1.3.x will not work - it must be CVS head.

Nightly snapshots are not building reliably - so you'll have to checkout
the CVS tree. Sorry about that. Maybe we'll be able to get the snapshots
going again this weekend.

1.4 and 1.3 are very divergent at this point - I don't think it has any
bearing.
