Plugins RPM

Install it with --nodeps (rpm -i --nodeps <packetname>). Or even better get the source, run configure and compile it yourself and then take the binaries and build your own RPM. Is dead easy. You can also get rid of unwanted plugins and pack your own scripts into the RPM. If you want to monitor multiple systems and also provide certain default configs this is the only way. The advantage.... you decide where the files go. I personally prefer to have everything in a clear structure and not splattered all over the file system. I usually install nagios in /usr/local/nagios and the plugins in /usr/local/nagios/libexec. Config files go on my systems into /etc/nagios. Makes finding things allot easier after a while. The RPMs from dag use when i remember right many different directories. So for example the plugins end up in /usr/lib/nagios, nagios in a total different directory and the web-interface again in another directory....... administrative nightmare jumps to my mind. If i wanted that i would run Windows <grin>.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Plugins RPM

I've tried to install the RadHat 8 RPM of the plugins on http://dag.wieers.com/packages/nagios-plugins/
But got the following error:

error: Failed dependencies:
perl(Net::SNMP) is needed by nagios-plugins-1.3.1-2.dag.rh80
fping is needed by nagios-plugins-1.3.1-2.dag.rh80

So I installed Net::SNMP and the latest fping, still getting the same error. Anyone know why?

Thanks.
