email notifications are not working

Do you have an MX record setup in your internal DNS for your mail
server.  If not, it won't know what mail server to use.

Friends,

Successfully installed Nagios on RH9 to monitor the server farm and
wan
link. 
SCANEARIO
-The server farm has private IP address (192.168.1.X/24)
-MSexchange(5.5) as the only mail server (192.168.1.10)
-all internal email clients connect the 192.168.1.10 address

PROBLEM
-Nagios is not sending email notifications through the internal
exchange
server.But notifications are successfully sent to the outside
world(whatever at yahoo.com)
- Already tried adding "192.168.1.10   mail.website.com" to the
/etc/hosts
Nagios is able to resolve mail.website.com with its internal IP of
192.168.1.10 and not the 12.34.45.XX address 

This is the topology

 |-[MS-Exchange]
 |-[nagios box]
 |-[otherservers]    


Any ideas ?
