It seems like you never check this service,
Cause check_period is set to "none".
Plus, you should add this line to my-service :
Register no, because it's a template.

I had check_period as none because I only wanted to use passive checks. Is
this wrong?

I had "register 0" in the template, is this the same as "register no". Using
0 seemed to follow the examples, in fact I had "active_check_enabled 0"
rather than using "no" but changed this when I googled and found an example.
