What version of AIX are you running? I highly suggest using GCC. IBM provides
the means to install RPM via AIX native packaging (can't remember if they were
.bff's or not). It makes installing and removing other applications a lot
easier as well (specifically RPMS created *for* AIX).

I've not used the native cc compiler on AIX except for once (to try and build
GCC), but it wasn't a corss-compiler by default. Is this a dev box and if so,
is there possible another compiler -OR- is cc possibly a symlink to a
cross-compiler version of cc. I'm just trying to think what other
environment(s) its been set to build binaries for.
