Missing file...

I downloaded the rpm for RH8 from the link on nagios.org.

That is what I have installed.

did you compile it or is this an rpm?

On RH8 - you should find openssl0.9.6b and libssl.so.0.9.6b

Looks like it might have being compiled on a different system - hence a 
different dependency.

BTW- openssl has never release a v4
