Help with 1.1 setup

When you get 500 errors, the best place to start is your web server
access/error logs.   Sometimes a 500 error can be caused by a web server
misconfiguration (maybe it can't read your .htaccess file?) .. sometimes by a
CGI not outputing the expected headers (something wrong with the cgi.cfg?).
Either way, the answer should be there.
