I completely understand.

However, I would really like to beta-test it.  We're not to the point
that if there's a nagios hiccup, our world ends (just me getting yelled
at/paged), so I'd like to contribute by applying a "real world" run of
it.

So, while I will eventually use it, I am forced to do one of three
things:
- wait for someone to write a MySQL backend using the event broker
- convert to flatfiles
- write it myself (and I really, really don't have that kind of time)

So, I may go with a combination of the latter two for now, and slowly
migrate to a full db solution.

Regardless, I'll definitely be generating my extinfo by pulling from the
DB.  I've put too much into that to just drop it :)
