I don't think so. I just put the following into my 
hostextinfo.cfg:

define hostexinfo{
	host_name	ts-1
	icon_image	citrix.png
	statusmap_image	citrix.png
	}

And citrix.png is in share/images/logos/citrix.png

Have you tried both png an jpg images?
