nagios 2.0

I have a question concerning 2.0.

It says, on http://www.nagios.org/upcoming.php,

"Hostgroup Escalations Going Away

Hostgroup escalations are being done away with, as they can easily be implemented with host escalations by using the hostgroup_name directive."

If i'm reading this right, it means that the define hostgroupescalation {} bit isn't going to work any more. Furthermore, it would imply that there's another way to setup:

define hostgroupescalation{
        hostgroup_name                  etc,etc,etc
        first_notification              2
        last_notification               0
        contact_groups                  backup-pagers
        notification_interval           60
        }

using the hostgroup_name directive? How would this be done? I depend on this for a secondary tier of notifications to go out in the event that the first person receiving the notification doesn't acknowledge the outage.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, there was a smiley at the end that might have come across as a 'J'. I am really not a jackasss....

News post from the Nagios.org site reads:

10/02/2003 Yes, I am still alive. Nagios 2.0 should be available for a beta by the end of October if all goes well. All that's left to do is write the docs for everything that's changed. You can find a list of some of the features that were added since 1.0 here.

Thanks.

Ric.

http://www.nagios.org/upcoming.php

“For those who want to know, I expect the first beta of Nagios 2.0 to appear sometime in late fall of 2003 (October or November)."

I'd say he's got at least another month before you can start asking, and even then it's ready when it's ready. Since he's mostly just working on documentation, if you really want to start playing with it you can grab it from http://www.nagios.org/cvs.php.
