Another option besides gregs is to use a check command that always returns OK (I.e. Check_dummy 0)

Subject: [Nagios-users] can I have a host that is not monitored?

I have a couple of switch's that don't have ip address. so I can't ping
them but I want them on the status map.

I've put them in and they appear fine but they are always pending. Can I
tell nagios not to monitor them as such.

Thanks.
