Probs with check_ntp

Ah, I have forgotten to give my *timeout settings defined in "nagios.cfg":

service_check_timeout=60
host_check_timeout=30
event_handler_timeout=30
notification_timeout=30
ocsp_timeout=5
perfdata_timeout=5

So why is there a timeout with my check_ntp service after 10 seconds 
when the service timeout is defined to 60 seconds?
