Rewriting nsclient? (was NSClient 1.0.8.0 Installation Problem)

NTray is written in Perl, I believe, but converted to a native Win32 binary using a utility, the name of which escapes me at the moment.  I don't know if the facility exists to be able to daemonize it à la MS Services without the assistance of something like FireDaemon.
