Service Checks Not Executing in a Timely Fashion

Hi,

I had the same problem, I am pinging 300 hosts every 2 minutes.
Turned out my problems was bandwith related: As soon as I started shaping with a guaranteed 32k and a allowed burst rate of 64k, the problem disappeared, and everything has been running smoothly ever since.

Maybe You have the same problem like I. There are nagios child 
prozesses, they never stops?
