Can't locate nagios.lock file

Hy everybody!

I just installed the Nagios network Monitor. But it doesn't start cause there's a "nagios.lock" file missing. 

Can anybody tell me where I can find the nagios.lock file and what it should consist. 

I know where it is supposed to be, but there is no such file. Also in the man pages, the file isn't mentioned ...
