Unexpected token or statement error when runni ng Nagios w/ -v

The checkcommands.cfg file is in the etc directory.

The really wierd thing is that if I use the nagios.cfg-sample file (with 
the exact same log_file line) it works...I have cut and pasted the line 
from the -sample file to the .cfg file and it doesnt work...
