Temp disabling contacts

Hello all,
 
is it possible to disable a contact like it is possible for Hosts and
services? My problem is that my contacts are on holidays from time to time
and they should be able to disable their notifications when they are out of
reach. The only idea I have right now is to use a script that rewrites my
contact.cfg file, but that would be a dirty hack.
