I'm sure that's not the case. I have timeout values ranging anywhere from 10 to 45 seconds depending on the plugin with no such modifications to the source. The DEFAULT_SOCKET_TIMEOUT is probably applied IFF there is no specific timeout specified in nagios.cfg
