nrpe on remote host

Hey all,

I've got a remote host on another network that is behind a firewall. 
The remote firewall is set to accept traffic ONLY from our external IP's

On this remote box we have a Remote Access Server card that I need to
monitor.  I've already written the script to check the card but now need
to set it up with nagios.  Will NRPE work in this situation or do I need
to setup check_by_ssh?

PS: The card is a cyclades pc400 if anybody's using one and want's the
script I created.
