Am i stupid? (check_ping)

I have the following defined for a host.

check_command                   check_ping!1000.0,20%!5000.0,60%


And yet I get

ndc4-vpn-1  PING  WARNING 04-23-2003 15:27:37 0d 0h 1m 47s 3/3 PING
WARNING - Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 48.20 ms  

Shouldn't anything under 1000ms be "ok"?
