This is what I did

Install the following in my nrpe.cfg config file

"command[check_uname]=/sbin/uname -a"

an created a service entry with the following

"check_command                   check_nrpe!check_uname"

cheers

Subject: [Nagios-users] uname output plugin?

Has anybody come up with a way to monitor kernel versions on machines
using Nagios and NRPE? I'm thinking about writing something like this, but
I don't want to redo something that's already been tried. Thoughts?
