NAG @ Solaris 2.6 - very basic question (compile environ)

Hi out there at the screens,

I'm still in the quest for setting up Nagios for a
pretty mixed environment ;-). Nagios Server will
live on Linux, solaris8-packages are available thanx
to Andre but I'm still a little bit stuck with
solaris 2.6. Regarding this I've got 2 questions:

1.) What basic components would I need for the
compiling environment on Solaris ? I admit
it's a pretty basic question (hence it's not
covered in the nice and broad Nagios docu)...
But 10 years passed since my last compilation
     of C code.

My knowledge so far (packages to get from
     sunfreeware):

     - GCC - the latest version would be 3.2.2
Are there any issues with this version or
       shall I fall back to 2.95 ?

     - MAKE
     - TAR

I'm pretty sure about the packages above ;-).
But what else would I need ?
     - glib 1.2 ?
     - other libraries ?
     - ...

2.) Is there somewhere maybe a ftp-source for the
     NRPE/Plugin-Binaries for Solaris 2.6 ?

Thanx for your help in advance.

Greetings from the polish border

Oliver
