New check_http

I am trying to compile new beta check_http with SSL support (just to 
check https in a nice way, doing by lynx at the moment).
I use:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I. -I. -I. -I. -I. -I/usr/include 
-g -O2 -c check_http.c

then

gcc  -g -O2 -L. -o check_http  check_http.o netutils.o utils.o -lnsl 
-lresolv  -lutil -lssl

I have libssl installed, of course.
But in running the plugin I get:

./check_http www.putahosthere.it -S -p443
check_http: invalid option - SSL is not available

Any hint to solve my problem?
