Wow, didn't think of that.....

I fixed the ownership of the dir for nagios...was owned by root :)
typical!!

Make sure the nagios core process can read its database configuration 
from ${NAGIOS_HOME}/etc/resource.cfg. I assume you have such a file with
the correct configuration data.
