You need to have the mysqlclient libs installed locally on the system. 
Configure usually finds it if it is installed in a standard location.
If non-standard location, try the latest CVS version - a couple of issues 
with mysql library locations were fixed.

If configure does not find the mysqlclient libs, then - no check_mysql.
