Today we're doing this in a very simple manner by
using the check_log plug-in to query on the various
text inserted into our syslog daemon by snmptrapd.

So, install net-snmp, configure it to dump traps to
your syslog, configure check_log to essentially grep
for the data.  Mind you, this is a simple approach
that may not work for everyone and at some point we'll
probably use the traphandler function.

But anyway, it would get you functional...
