Subject: [Nagios-users] Startup errors

I am new to nagios and have been following all directions I can find
especially the article in Onlamp.

If I do "/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v
/usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg"
I get this:

Reading configuration data...

Error: Could not add object property in file
'/usr/local/nagios/etc/hosts.cfg' on line 3.
Here is my hosts.cfg file

-----------begin hosts.cfg-----------------------
# Generic host definition template
define host{

 name                            generic-host

}

# Host Definition

define host{
 # Name of host template to use
 use                     generic-host

 host_name               nagios.lan
 alias                   nagios
 address                 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

 notification_interval   120
 notification_period     24x7

}
----------------end hosts.cfg-------------------

Could anyone point me in the right direction???
Thank you!

Take Care,
