[naemon-users] Fwd: apt-get install errors

Here is a brief update of my situation.

By stopping the naemon service/daemon and then installing with

apt-get install naemon

It will install to completion without dependency errors, however the naemon
daemon doesn't start up. If I go to the /usr/bin directory, I can manually
start naemon as a foreground process and the Thruk website works as
before. If I try to start Naemon with the -d switch it fails to start.
There are no errors at the CLI but ps aux shows no running naemon
processes. Any advice would be appreciated! Reboots don't help.
Upgrading to version .9 also displayed this behavior but rather than solve
it, I decided to wait for version 1.0 in the hopes that whatever is causing
this issue would fix itself.

Thank you,

Justin

Subject: apt-get install errors
To: Naemon Users <naemon-users at monitoring-lists.org>

Hello Group,

When I install the new version 1 binaries it errors out with the complaint:

dpkg: error processing package naemon (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 naemon-core
 naemon

I copied most of the install shell for inspection. I have tried various
apt-get and dpkg commands to clean up and configure the packages to no
avail. I cloned the Naemon server before upgrading so I can revert to the
clone. I am going to try completely uninstalling and install one more time
before giving up for the day.

Thanks for your help!

Justin Laughlin
