I'm fine with supporting both check_ping and check_icmp. One general  
aim of the plugins is to better use system calls, rather than  
wrapping external commands, but in the case of setuid root, I think  
it is reasonable to allow both. And check_icmp has some useful  
functionality that would be very difficult in check_ping (primarily  
timeouts for host unavailability, multiple ip addresses).
