Do you use more hosts and services than the "localhost.cfg" from a
fresh Nagios install?
If so, try to copy your host and servive definitions, but give them
different names like "localhost2", "localhost3" and so on.

I've got the same situation if my fresh Nagios have to less to do, it
seems.

You can try to hack the gcc optimizer in the Makefile to build the
nagios binary without any optimizing.
Look for the CFLAGS and an -O2 or something similar.

I won't tell you to disable this Flag forever! It might decrease your
nagios performance.
