Feature request - Downtime Notification

I would like the following feature, but have not found any reference to 
it's existence.

Would it be possible to make a Scheduled Downtime send notification 
warning contacts of the impending downtime as well as notification at 
the start/end of the downtime?

example:
  - Downtime scheduled for Host/Service on date/time
  - Scheduled downtime on host/service - started/stopped/cancelled
